Your Joyful Birth
Birth Doula, Placenta Encapsulation, Natural Childbirth Classes

Dr. Alicia Brooks, DC

My most important job is being a mother of 6 boys ! All six of my births have been completely different, but I have grown with each one. My first two births were "traditional hospital births" with epidurals. My third birth was a Bradley unmedicated hospital birth. My fourth, fifth and sixth births were both midwife assisted home births with the fifth being a water birth.

I completed 3 years of undergraduate education in Physiology/Pre-Med at Southern IL University Carbondale. I then transferred to Logan College of Chiropractic in January 2006 to complete my bachelors in Life Sciences. I graduated with my Doctorate of Chiropractic in December 2009 and then began Midwifery school working towards my Masters of Midwifery with the Midwives College of Utah in 2013. I trained with DONA to be a doula in 2007.  I am a Placenta Benefits trained Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and have been encapsulating placentas since January 2011. I am also pursuing becoming a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

My number one goal when I am hired as a doula for my clients is to make sure they are educated and informed. By being fully informed of all the benefits, risks and alternatives this gives them the ability to make the best decisions for their family at that time. I love empowering women to trust their bodies in the process of giving birth and helping them enter the world of parenting.

"The birth of a baby is a biological process. Yet it is more than that. Giving birth and caring for a baby are acts of love." Sheila Kitzinger

"Attending births is like growing roses. You have to marvel at the ones that just open up and bloom at the first kiss of the sun but you wouldn't dream of pulling open the petals of the tightly closed buds and forcing them to blossom to your time line." Gloria Lemay
